Best Shadows in Arise Ragnarok
Arise with E, Collect with R, merge duplicates at the Guild Building, and hunt assassin-type units before vanity names.
Shadows are the army you raise from corpses in Arise Ragnarok. They are not Crossover summons, they do not use that game’s rank ladder, and they are not optional flavor. For most of the leveling curve a good shadow line deals more damage than dumping every point into Strength. This board ranks what to keep, not a fake complete index of every mob in the city.
If you still need the button-by-button version, read the shadows guide first. This page is the priority list you use after you already know that E arises and R collects.
How Arise actually works
When an enemy dies, two prompts matter:
- E — Arise. The corpse becomes a shadow in your index. This is the default on anything with an assassin-type tag, an Elf silhouette, or a dungeon-boss name you recognize.
- R — Collect. You take essences / currency instead. Use this on junk copies once the index slot is filled, not on the first Elf you see.
Summoning equipped shadows uses a separate combat bind on controls. Do not confuse Arise with summon.
You unlock an extra shadow slot every 90 levels. Fill the first slot with an assassin-type unit, then stop treating every common Goblin as a permanent party member. Quality beats a full bar of weak copies.
Merge before you hoard
Duplicates are fuel. Walk into the Guild Building, take the elevator, and talk to the Shadow Merge NPC on the upper floor. The merge that players actually use takes four copies of the same unit. Put the strongest copy in the first slot. There is no stat reroll on a merged shadow, so a weak first slot permanently caps the result. Do this at the Guild, not in a dungeon portal, and do not merge your only assassin-type just to “clean the index.”
What we rank — and what we refuse to invent
Priority order this wiki will stand behind
- Assassin-type shadows. Highest damage line players can actually measure. Keep these even when the model looks plain.
- Dungeon bosses. Timed portals are where the named bodies drop. Treat a boss arise as a win even if the index card is rare.
- Elf-type shadows. Repeatedly listed next to assassin-type on community indexes (Elf itself, and players who chase an Elf dungeon boss). High priority, still not a Crossover unit.
Community indexes list collection names such as Elf, Goblin, Ghost, Skeleton, and Lycan. Those are index entries, not an S-to-F grid.
Names we will not print as fact
Several blogs publish an SS column headed by titles like “Ragnarok Boss,” “Frost Giant,” and “Dragon Lord.” Those lists do not agree with each other on location, rank, or even whether the names exist in this place. This wiki marks them unconfirmed. We also will not import Crossover shadow names into this ranking.
Scaling — your class still matters
Summoned shadow stats scale off your class main stat. Mage and Healer feed Intelligence. Assassin, Warrior, and Tank feed Strength. That is why a Healer with a stacked assassin-type army can still feel slow to start a fight, and why dumping Intelligence on Mage is not “ignoring your shadows.” Pair this board with the class tier list and the stats and builds page. Race is a much smaller lever; see the race tier list only after the army is real.
How to farm the right corpses
City trash is for filling the first slot and learning the prompt. The real hunt is the 15-minute dungeon window that opens on the hour and half-hour. Use the dungeon guide and the dungeon schedule so you are standing at Goblin Cave, the Elf dungeon, or another live portal instead of collecting R on street skeletons. Blue quests still pay XP; they are not where assassin-type bosses live.
Early on, Arise almost everything so the index is not empty. After you own one assassin-type and one dungeon-boss copy, Collect the rest unless you are stacking a four-copy merge. Auto arise and auto farm speed the prompt; they will also arise junk if you never filter.
Using this list in a session
Before the next portal, open the Shadows panel and look at types, not splash art. Swap in assassin-type, keep an Elf if you have one, and park tank-type shadows only when you are dying before the boss animation starts. After the portal, merge at the Guild, then go back to mining or quests until the next window. Codes such as ELF and IGRIS grant dungeon chests — they do not spawn a race or a named SS shadow. Redeem them on the codes page with the how-to-redeem steps, and ignore expired like-milestones.
A list that says assassin-type, dungeon bosses, Elf-type, merge fours, extra slot every 90 levels is playable. Keep the Tier List Hub handy when a patch note on Updates or Hunters + QoL changes slot costs or merge rules.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Arise Ragnarok on Roblox.
Should I press E or R on a corpse?
Press E (Arise) on assassin-type, Elf-type, and dungeon bosses. Press R (Collect) on junk once those slots are filled. Do not Collect your first Elf.
How many shadows can I equip?
You gain an extra slot every 90 levels. Community reports put a practical summoned cap around nine. Until then, one strong assassin-type beats a full bar of commons.
Where do I merge duplicate shadows?
Guild Building, upper floor, Shadow Merge NPC. Four copies of the same unit. Strongest copy in the first slot — there is no stat reroll.
Are Ragnarok Boss, Frost Giant, and Dragon Lord real SS shadows?
Unconfirmed. Community lists disagree on those names. This wiki will not treat them as fact. Hunt assassin-type units, dungeon bosses, and Elf-type shadows instead.
Do shadows scale with my class?
Yes. Mage and Healer scale summons from Intelligence. Assassin, Warrior, and Tank scale from Strength. See stats and builds and your page under Classes.
Is this the Crossover shadow list?
No. Arise Ragnarok uses its own index. Do not import Crossover names or ranks. Official links are on the links hub.
